On August 12, HT Division hosted a Hungarian–Turkish R&D meeting at its Budapest headquarters, bringing together university students, young researchers, and early-career industry representatives to discuss ongoing cooperation in unmanned systems and applied research. One of the main goals of this tailor made meeting was to represent the aforementioned project outcomes to young professionals.

HT Division CEO Suat Gökhan Karakuş addressed the participants and highlighted the importance of strengthening Hungarian–Turkish professional relations, closer cooperation between academia and industry, and creating opportunities for young professionals to gain practical experience in R&D.
The event was initiated and led by the Chief Academic Officer Dr. Utku Kale along with Máté Tuza, who is serving as a R&D analyst, as well as a masters student at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna, and Pınar Ece Opan, who is the current intern from Istanbul Technical University.

Participants came from a wide range of ranked institutions including University of Amsterdam, The Diplomatic Academy of Vienna, Istanbul Technical University, Bilkent University, Middle East Technical University, Antalya Belek University, Lufthansa Technik, Çelebi Ground Handling and BME representing fields such as aeronautical and vehicle engineering, defence technologies, computer science, civil aviation and international studies.
At the center of the meeting (Project ID: 2024-1.2.11-TÉT-IPARI-TR-2025-00018) was the ongoing Hungarian–Turkish project, “Development of a Search and Rescue Unmanned Ground Vehicle and Drone System.” The project brings together HT Division (Hungarian-side coordinator) and BME in Hungary with Erciyes University (Turkish-side coordinator) and Zafer Güder Aviation & Space in Türkiye.

Dr. Kale presented the project’s technical objectives and outcomes, including the coordinated use of unmanned ground vehicles and UAVs in search and rescue operations. The proposed system combines autonomous technologies, sensor integration, real-time data processing and AI-supported solutions to improve access to hazardous environments and support emergency response.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to introduce participants to HT Division’s wider international R&D activities and to exchange ideas across different academic and professional backgrounds. This event reflected HT Division’s continued commitment to connecting technological development with academic cooperation and the next generation of researchers and engineers.
